Trópico Sistemas de Telecomunicações S.A., founded in 1999 as a result of a joint-venture between Promon - leading company in technology with strong participation in the telecommunications market - and CPqD - largest Latin American research center - responsible for more than eight million digital terminals, around 20% of the installed base all over Brazil, and recently, with presence in Latin America and the United States.

At the end of 2001, the company received a minor investment from Cisco Systems . It has been another step in order to offer integrated solutions of multiservice networks to their customers. The amount invested enables Trópico to develop and provide multiservice convergence networks through the integration of Vectura product line with Cisco's data network equipments.

Trópico's solution, with Cisco's products for data networks, provides support to operators willing to offer new services and applications.

Trópico's development lab and main offices are located in Campinas - São Paulo, while the factory is in Manaus - Amazonas.
