Vectura Softswitch

The Vectura SoftSwitch is the most strategic member in a convergent network, being able to assure the interoperability of the members by which it is made up. Thus, in a configuration with various telephone exchanges connected to voice gateways, the Vectura SoftSwitch makes it possible for any exchange or subscriber to communicate with any other point of the network. With this facility, the operator can transparently offer low-cost IP (or ATM) long-distance calls. The Vectura SoftSwitch processes the calls of a telephone exchange but without performing the switching proper, or containing the subscriber terminals. These functions are performed by external gateways, which communicate with the IP network through standard protocols - the MGCP (Media Gateway Protocol) and/or (ITU-T standard) H.248. To speak to the public-telephone network, the SCC#7 (common-channel signaling number 7) is used. The SoftSwitch is the means whereby all this processing is controlled, enabling usual and conventional telephone applications in these data networks, with full safety and reliability, such as: IP Transit Exchange, Transit Exchange / Local IP, transfer and signaling point (PTS) and service access point (PAS).
